THE CELESTINE HOTELS and Mitsui Garden Hotels, operated by Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management Co., Ltd., have begun wearing their newly designed uniforms.
Designed under the concept "Relaxing Good Time," the uniforms convey approachability to guests while remaining comfortable and stress-free for the staff who wear them.
The new uniform centers on a jacket in earth brown, chosen as a symbol of approachability. Departing from the traditional tied-up style, it pairs a fly-front band-collar shirt with a no-collar jacket and no necktie. Staff can also freely choose between pants and a skirt — a meaningful expression of diversity.
The jacket sleeves are cut at nine-tenths length with slits so they can also be worn folded back, adjusting to differences in arm length and in the way each person works. Inside, multifunctional pockets and an earpiece loop designed for hotel work raise everyday functionality.
In materials, lightweight, high-performance fabrics improve comfort and working efficiency. All innerwear is washable and shape-retaining — ready to wear straight from a home wash, no ironing needed. The outer fabric of every item uses recycled PET-bottle material, and after use the uniforms are not discarded as industrial waste but given new life through material recycling, out of consideration for the environment.
This project explored what a uniform embodying true relaxation should be, approaching the question from both the guest's side and the staff's.
