The Sea of Japan and the East China Sea surrounding Nagasaki long served as a "sea road," fostering exchange among many cultures since antiquity and shaping the Nagasaki of today. Even under the national isolation of the Edo period, Western culture arrived through the gateway of Dejima, while soy sauce and sake in porcelain compra bottles traveled from Japan to Europe.
Q-bic Hotels was born on this ground. Just as Nagasaki once flourished through the exchange of people, goods, and culture, the company operates four business hotels that aim to be a perch for travelers — "a place where smiles are born."
The hotels have begun introducing a fresh, gentle uniform built around an original-print shirt, paired with a jacket and pants. The original print was created with nowartt Piece of The EARTH: a graphic unique to Q-bic Hotels combining waves, Dejima, and compra bottles, drawn from Nagasaki's history.
In pursuit of ease of work, so that each member of staff can serve in their own way, the uniform does away with scarves and neckties and is fully unisex. Home-washable fabrics and detachable jacket cuffs — the part most prone to soiling — make long-term use possible. For footwear, staff wear UNIX TOKYO's original knit shoes, which ease fatigue during work. Freed from leather shoes and pumps, feet stay cooler and less tired, with a comfort close to sneakers.
A design that expresses the company's identity is essential — but so are comfort and ease of work. Only when staff themselves feel good at work can they offer heartfelt hospitality, and that, we believe, is what builds a hotel's brand.
